Our travel begins from the city known as ‘gorge of flowers’, Tsaghkadzor, surrounded by alpine meadows is a small city attractively developed on the mountain hills of Teghenis. Access to the mountain areas is provided by a ski lift. With the finest ski slopes in Armenia, Tsaghkadzor is the largest and leading winter sports destination. This delightful city is cosy sparsely populated and surrounded by mountains covered with forests. Tsaghkadzor combines wonderful ski slope, favourable climate, rich infrastructure along with curative clean air and enchanting beauty of nature for an active holiday. Tsaghkadzor mostly known as a retreat town will be a real delight with its mild climate for the best winter experience allowing you to spend time with nature, breathing some fresh air and, seeing beautiful places.
The next place to go is Dilijan, situated in Dilijan National Park. It is one of the most important resorts of Armenia, famous for its amazing surroundings, lush forests, healing mineral springs, medieval monasteries, and hiking trails. You can grab a taxi to Dilijan’s biggest site, Haghartsin Monastery. Nestled in forested mountains, the Monastery creates a magical impression of the lost world. The 13th-century monastery has been newly restored, with an entire complex reconstructed to give you a feel of the middle ages, when it was actually built. The mountain views, as well as the buildings, and intricate decoration of the monastery are stunning.
Have you ever looked through a map or guide-book about Armenia? Then you will notice the only “sea” of the country: Sevan Lake. It is one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world and the star attraction of Armenia. Lake Sevan is unbelievably blue and sparkling, often called the “Emerald of Armenia”. With Lake Sevan making up over 5% of Armenia’s surface, located 1900 meters above sea level with a maximum depth of 99 meters, there’s quite a lot happening around its extensive shores. The cool blue waters of the lake and the adorable sun on the beaches will give you a different experience. You can swim, surf or ski as there are a number of water-based activities happening around Lake Sevan. Jet-ski and wind-surf along the lake, boat rides on the lake are also available allowing you to experience different parts of it.
